Taking care of soil water.
From mountain to agricultural contexts …
… From instrumental to poetic approaches
Water transfers in soils are the common thread of this presentation. Based on modeling exercises in mountain hydrology and flash flood simulations, the soil compartment is shown to be the main source of uncertainty in hydromodeling. Specific instrumental monitoring of snowmelt infiltration in the Swiss Alps is detailed. Soil water is also central to the regenerative hydrology approach. The idea of documenting the emergence of a feedback loop between soil and surface fluxes is discussed. But finally, our primary relationship to soil water is sensitive.
